Micro-lens Array

Application:

  • For illumination: light beam collimation, deflection, homogenizing light intensity distribution, customized illumination pattern, etc.

  • For imaging: concentrate light onto sensor array to increase sensitivity.

  • As a chip module: directly integrated with semiconductor laser or sensor chips.

Typical specification (customization possible):

  • Spherical or aspherical lens profiles

  • Radius of curvature: 13 ~ 500 um

  • Len Sag: 1 ~ 10 um

  • Lens diameter: 10 ~ 200 um

  • Lens peak-to-peak surface roughness < 10 nm

  • Lens profile deviation < lambda/10

  • Made of Silicon, GaAs, SiO2 or polymer

Our experience and uniqueness:

  • We provide proof-of-concept and technology prototypes as well as large-scale production

  • Demonstrated monolithically integrated microlens array on 6-inch VCSEL wafer

Computer Generated Hologram

Application:

  • For illumination: beam shaping, structured light, diffuser for flood illumination

  • As a chip module: directly integrated with semiconductor laser or sensor chips.

CHG design:

  • Binary or multilevel (16 levels) diffractive element

  • Optimized number of phase steps for performance and fabrication

  • Inverse design (single wavelength or broadband) for customized distribution of light intensity within any desired far-field of interest.

Our experience and uniqueness:

  • We provide proof-of-concept and technology prototypes as well as large-scale production.

  • Demonstrated monolithically integrated CGH on 6-inch VCSEL wafer.

  • CGH Integrated with a VCSEL array: high efficiency (~ 60%) and large deflection angle (deflects chief ray by 40+ degrees and generate increasing intensity distribution of far-field from 0 to 60+ degrees).

Metasurface

Application:

  • For illumination: beam shaping, structured light, diffuser for flood illumination

  • For imaging: achromactic metalens, broadband dispersion engineering, large field-of-view telecentric metalens

  • As a chip module: directly integrated with semiconductor laser or sensor chips.

Metasurface design and optimization:

  • Inverse design for customized far-field pattern

  • Hybrid lens design comprising metasurfaces and refractive lenses

  • Proprietary application programming interface for optimization

  • Multifunctional metasurfaces (e.g. a metasurface as a lens + fan-out gratings)

Our experience and uniqueness:

  • We provide proof-of-concept and technology prototypes.

  • Demonstrated monolithically integrated metasurface on VCSEL chips.

  • We provide packaged prototypes for ease of testing and showcase.

Packaged MM_edited.jpg

Packaged metasurfaces on VCSEL arrays: The metasurfaces (located within the blue circle area) are integrated on VCSEL arrays and encapsulated and protected by a glass window. The VCSEL arrays are wire-bonded to the circuit board. Therefore, each metasurface-VCSEL sample can be lighted up by simply connecting the bottom pins to a power supply. We can also provide CGH- and microlens-VCSEL samples in the same configuration for ease of demonstration.
